Many people think of Highlands Ranch as a neighborhood, but it’s actually a community – technically a “census-designated place” – full of neighborhoods. Located in the southwest metro Denver area, in Douglas County, Highlands Ranch is one of the area’s most popular places to call home. The first homes in this planned community were built in 1981 and the area has been growing ever since. Homes for sale in Highlands Ranch are an easy commute to Denver and the Tech Center. The area boasts a large number of parks and trails, shopping centers and recreation centers. In 2016, MONEY Magazine named Highlands Ranch number six in its list of “Best Places to Live” in the United States, saying “crime is low, the schools are top-notch, and jobs are plentiful.”
