So you’re looking to buy, sell, or invest in real estate? That’s excellent. There couldn’t be a better time to do so! The market is shifting in areas between a buyer’s and seller’s market so it’s a great time for most people interested in real estate. But before you get too far into the process, you need to ask yourself, “How tech-savvy is my Realtor? You may have never thought to ask this question. After all, it wasn’t so long ago when agents didn’t need to be any more tech-savvy than the average Joe. But times have changed and the real estate world is a whole new animal. Thanks to the onset of the internet age, real estate is no longer a business that is done primarily in the physical realm. Instead, people are engaging in real estate online every second of the day. Therefore, if you want to succeed in this market, you need to make sure your agent has the tech-savvy advantage.
The first trait of a tech-savvy realtor is social media activity. Your Realtor should be using some combination of Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and blogging. While these forms of online communication are never the medium by which a deal is actually signed, they are key to drawing in more clientele. One of the most important aspects of any agent is how well connected they are with their client base. And while it’s important for Realtors to be connected on social media, posting all day long isn’t necessary. The simple fact that they are plugged in is what matters.
The second trait that you should consider is your Realtor’s website- and more specifically, the website aesthetics. This test is similar to checking a Realtor’s social media presence. A Realtor’s website is a tool for connecting sellers and buyers. But if your Realtor is using a website with an old design or poor usability, you can bet that you are not alone in feeling that way. And if enough people don’t enjoy the site layout, your Realtor will not be bringing in much business. Choose a Realtor with a modern and user-friendly site.
Finally, a tech-savvy Realtor must, I repeat, must have a great home search option on their website. Why is this so important? Considering the fact that approximately 95% of all of home sales begin with an online search, I would say the people have spoken. Buyers overwhelmingly use an online search before even stepping foot inside a house. So whether you are a seller wanting to get plenty of exposure for your home or a buyer who wants to make sure you have access to all possible homes in the area, an online home search is critical to your real estate success.
As you can see, having a tech-savvy Realtor can make or break your real estate experience. Success in today’s real estate market requires social media, a well developed website and a good home search option.
