Looking at homes for sale in Washington Park? If you are new to the area, you’ll hear the locals refer to the neighborhood as “Wash Park”. A gem in its own right, it has a cozy neighborhood feel, yet it is close enough the downtown area to enjoy the shops, restaurants, and festivities that the residents like to enjoy on a regular basis.

Washington Park

The neighborhood is known for the park of the same name, Washington Park. This area is 165 acres, and whether you want to take a stroll, relax with a book, have a picnic with friends, or take an energizing jog, Washington Park is simply delightful. On any given day, you’ll find kids playing and laughing, couples strolling along, and friends enjoying various outdoor activities. Check out the lovely flower gardens, sit by one of two serene lakes, or rent a kayak or paddle boat for some fun that you won’t forget.

Mayan Theater

Not really in the Wash Park neighborhood, but not far away on South Broadway, the Mayan Theater is a must-see. Art Lovers and movie fans alike enjoy the Mayan Theater. Opening in 1930, it is of the Art Deco Mayan Revival Style. Surrounded by art galleries, the Mayan Theater features three screens, one downstairs theater, two upstairs theaters, and stadium seating. It is no wonder that those living in the Washington Park Neighborhood love an outing to the Mayan to view independent and foreign language films.

Also featuring salads, fruit juices, and a variety of healthy snacks, Overt is a neighborhood landmark where you can meet with friends or enjoy some time on your own.

Fooducopia

When dinnertime rolls around, eat like the locals and head to Fooducopia for some fresh organic cuisine. Known as a “Cornucopia of Goodness”, this eatery features breakfast, lunch, and dinner with fresh ingredients from their own local farm. Whether you choose one of the flavored French toast dishes, a hummus sandwich, or wild halibut with garlic cream sauce, you’ll agree that one thing is for sure: it doesn’t get much better than Fooducopia!
